Coffee Culture: My Green Cafe “Mon Vert Cafe”

Interior of Woodstock's newest cafe

We  like what we’re seeing, eating and enjoying at the latest entry into Woodstock coffee culture (soon to be vino culture, too). Cameron’s parents came to Woodstock last Fall to celebrate their 30th anniversary and noticed the old Bahramian (sp?)  place for sale.

After consultations with “the kids”  they (the parents) bought the property. As you remember, part of the space was the old “Daily Grind”.  THAT “Daily Grind” has moved into the Allechante site. Now Mon Vert Cafe expands the space to include what used to be the first floor of  an upscale second-hand clothing store.

Part of the sweet story: Cameron says he met Laura just five months ago and brought her along for the Woodstock ride. They’re doing great at a low-key introduction to their business which features a chic atmosphere — modern lean-back and relax furnishing, stools and tables and stylish chill music.  Only thing some don’t love is the wall of mirrors that can feature YOU as you eat. Hmm. Still, the mirrors help open up the space, right?

Coffee = Great. Laura presides at the counter.  I can get an iced coffee that’s strong enough to whip my neurons into shape – no need to go fancy here although they do serve espresso beverages — both hot and cold.

Food=Just fine. Cameron presides in the kitchen making simple breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Egg and cheese on great bread.  Or how about prosciutto and egg with a major toss of tabasco sauce on top. Prices moderate.

Every single person in Woodstock is walking in to interview the new owners about their business. Heck, we’re curious. And like a good interpreter Laura quietly repeats their story over and over.  We like the low-key, read NOT LOUD, style they’re projecting.

Watch this space: Cameron and Laura will serve wine, beer and small appetizers from 4pm to 6:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Be there. Aloha. I am grateful for a clean, well-lit space. Oh yeah, no-nonsense wi-fi.  Of course. These guys are hip to what’s necessary.
