Snow Dump News: The Jungle

This Tuesday, June 14th at 615pm the Village Board of Trustees will meet “early” at a “field location” — The Woodstock snow dump — aka “The Jungle” — to get an update from the Woodstock Economic Development committee on progress in finding new ways to deal with snow removal in the Village.

The Woodstock Selectboard has been invited to attend. After the field meeting, Trustees will return to the Woodstock Town Hall for regular business 7:00-ish.

This area at the East End of the Village where the old railroad station used to be has become known as both an eyesore and a place with a lot of potential. Many residents’ hopes and dreams are to turn this location into something other than a place to dump snow — perhaps commercial uses, perhaps a park. Sustainable Woodstock has some ideas and representatives from that group may be on hand as well.  But, this is, specifically, right now, an update on SNOW. I know, it’s still a word best left behind for the summer, but, you know, it’s on the way….the logistics of where to put it. Well, ask John Doton and the road crews and they’ll tell you ALL about it.
