Woodstock Police Chief: Offer Made to Candidate

We’re hearing from well-placed sources that an offer has been made to a candidate for new Woodstock Police Chief, the person who will replace Chief Byron Kelly, Jr.

The decision on a final candidate with an offer comes after an extensive interview process by a Town of Woodstock Police Chief Search Committee.  Several area candidates applied for the  Town of Woodstock position.

We’re waiting for an official announcement from Town Manager Phil Swanson pending acceptance or rejection of the offer.

What we CAN tell you of this candidate  is that he (there were no women finalists) is someone familiar with Central Vermont and has more than 15 years background in police work.

Among those interviewed for the Police Chief job  — the interviews were open to the public – as posted on the Town of Woodstock Municipal Manager’s website — in alphabetical order:

Robert Blish, Thomas Button, Jim Cushing, Peter Mantello, Art Reed and Duane Tompkins

Stay tuned…
