Buy Local…Save Money

Three  Woodstock Village businesses are trying to encourage locals to stop on in by reducing their prices on “Woodstock Wednesdays.”  It’s well-known —  if not clearly quantified —  that to successfully keep a business operational in town year-round, store keepers need to solicit locals (You know — let’s be frank —  treat them nicely!)  to keep stores going during “shoulder” seasons. Without local support, restaurants, coffee shops, clothing and household goods stores are likely to be singing the blues as they pack their out-of-town bags.

So here’s the deal. P.J. Eames of Clover Gift Shop on Elm Street and Kim Smith of Red Wagon Toy Company and 37 Central Clothiers  on Central Street are taking off  ten percent on their goods on  “Woodstock Wednesdays.”  So. That’s tomorrow. Walk inside rather than walking past.  See what there is, talk to your local shop keepers, shoot the breeze and, perhaps, spend a little money.  But know this is good gesture: You’re being welcomed in the best way possible: with respect for your wallet.

Thanks P.J. and Kim. Perhaps even greater local discounts will be in our futures!
