Horses, of courses, riding 100 miles throughout Woodstock, South Woodstock and environs this weekend. Proceed with caution along dirt roads where horses and riders may be walking, trotting, cantering or galloping along.
Horses are supposed to be healthy at the end of the 100 miles. Vets check out the horse and riders along the way. But be prepared for seeing a lot of parched, weathered people in britches roaming around town. DO water them appropriately and provide shade and damp cloths to over-heated areas. Look for signs of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. If you stop sweating, you may be in trouble. Keep a nice frozen bag of peas available for application to nether regions for the ultimate body cool-down.
