Hartland Client Fires Woodstock Attorney in Public Protest

“Tom Hayes…You’re Fired!” Early Bird commuters on Rt. 4 and Central Street in the Village were greeted this morning by Hartland resident Dan O’Brien’s protest sign in front of Attorney Tom Hayes office. He stood with his sign and his beagle with a placard listing a series of complaints against his lawyer who O”Brien said did not appear in court yesterday thereby putting him in harm’s way.

O’Brien would not share the details of his case or his discontent except to say he had expected Hayes to take care of some things in a timely manner when he went to the Philippines  and that he got back to find out things had not been taken care of.   O’Brien says he is not in arrears on fees, having spent at least 35-thousand dollars over the past few years and having employed Hayes for a number of separate cases.

Attorney Hayes responded to O’Brien’s protest as you might expect, “I am not at liberty to discuss the case.” He added, ” Mr. O’Brien is upset.  I am sorry.”

The protest placard generated early “buzz” throughout the Village as several Early Bird tipsters informed this blogger of the “happening.” O’Brien said Woodstock Police told him that Woodstock  doesn’t  get too many protestors here and that he was fine standing on the sidewalk as long as he didn’t disrupt the peace.
