Woodstock’s Wednesday Farmer’s Market on the Village Green will be enhanced this evening by the presence of your local Chamber of Commerce. They’ll be “mixing it up” from around 5:00 to 6:30pm.

It’s a beautiful cool day for the market and “high summer”  with all the wonderful locally grown veggies for sale. IMHO (In my humble opinion) everyone should be slurping up those delicious tomatoes. Some cracked pepper, sea salt, maybe a dash of olive oil or mayo? Ultra-yum.

As far as tomatoes, go… It’s enjoy them now or wait another year, folks. Tomatoes. You get to really appreciate fresh-grown tomatoes when you can’t get good ones in the Far North.  

I’m also noticing the first locally-grown corn is out there and ready for eatin’. But I digress: Nice public event this evening to meet and greet Woodstock Chamber of Commerce members outside their often  private soirees and secret venues.

As part of my Woodstock Early Bird meet and greet with the Chamber, might I suggest a new bathroom directional  sign for the Village Green tourism hut?  That old pink piece of paper  in a nasty plastic sleeve has been there for years.  I know the Woodstock Chamber virtually abandoned the hut as a go-to place for visitors with the opening of the new back-alley Welcome Center,  but, thankfully, they have re-instated volunteers to the hut in the past year. That backyard shed on the Green, whether you like it or not, is a focal point for visitors just getting into town who have parked on the Green (and maybe fed a meter.) We might as well make it look a bit professional. Another note. Although there are brochures inside, I see nothing visible anywhere about that hut on the outside  about the fact that Woodstock is the home of Vermont’s only National Park. It’s an asset given by our former philanthropic residents — Laurance and Mary Rockefeller —  who wanted the place to be known and shared with the people of the United States. No sign, no clue. It’s a mystery.  Are we not proud of this wonderful place?
