Woodstock Police Chief Robbie Blish gave the update to Village Trustees Tuesday evening that two people have been arrested in the recent rash of property thefts from unlocked cars in the area. He said a third arrest of an individual is pending once that individual completes a rehab program. He said good police work was done by Officers Mantello, Wilding and Hutchins who even worked their off-hours to help resolve the many reported thefts.
Blish said most, but not all, property has been recovered. Of note, he says police have recovered a stolen rifle that was allegedly taken by the persons arrested.
The new Chief also reported that despite the recent spike in crime, “So far the wheels haven’t come off the police department.” He says there will be some changes coming to the department in the next few weeks and months as Officer Jim Cushing is leaving and a new hire will be going to the Police Academy in February. Blish also spoke of restoring an old Sergeant’s position but did not go into detail about how that might affect personnel.
