Police Twitter

The Woodstock Police maintain a Twitter feed with brief mentions of incidents they have handled. While not updated daily, when updated the police report gives insight into their work:

8/8 — Four tires stolen from a residence
8/8 — Report of unfamiliar truck loitering on Sugar Hill, entering private driveways
8/8 — Two suspicious males on Peterkin Hill
8/7 — Juvenile solicited adult on River Street as to where to purchase marijuana
8/7 — Vehicular damage at Riverside cemetary
8/6 — Vehicle Off the Road – Anne Sutcliffe-Swanson, 26, cited for DUI
8/6 — Wallets taken from unsecured vehicles in South Woodstock
8/6 — Police assisted in removing unwelcome guest from local motel
8/6 — Noise disturbance on South Street. Officers detained one of four juveniles drinking and setting off fireworks

    I’m a bit surprised that the Woodstock Police Department tweets its calls, but given that it does, wouldn’t it be cool if it tweeted events in real time rather than batching them up for the week? Sort of the basic premise of Twitter, eh?
