Three Vehicle Accident Creates Traffic Jam on Central Street

An accident in front of Sunoco on Central Street  involving a Vermont State Trooper patrol car, a minivan and a motorcycle caused a traffic back-up for the better part of an hour this  Tuesday afternoon. Woodstock Ambulance took two people to the hospital from the white mini-van as a result of the melee. A State Trooper involved in the accident was up and walking although his vehicle suffered damage.  A couple on a motorcycle visiting from Ontario narrowly avoided injury as they veered away from a State Patrol car that was apparently rear-ended by the driver in the white van.

The State Trooper, heading West was returning home from work and had stopped to make a left turn into his apartment driveway(almost home!)  next to Sunoco. A white minivan retro-fitted for a handicapped person and driven by a female apparently rear-end the patrol car as it came around the corner just beyond Maplefield’s. As a result, according to the Ontario couple, the patrol car was pushed into oncoming eastbound traffic and hit the motorcycle which was coming toward it.  The couple was not injured.  Many Woodstock ambulance responders were on scene to assist in removing the husband and wife who were in the front seats of the white van.

Police diverted traffic through “The Jungle” to get them back onto Route Four.
