Both Veremedy Pet Hospital locations are open and functional (we are bringing water to the Woodstock location). We helped the Red Cross in WRJ by providing some shelter to pets that needed to be evacuated with their owners (the owners stayed at the Hartford High School down the road) on Sunday night. If there are people with pets in need of assistance as a result of the flood ( the pet needs temporary shelter, food or medicine) we stand ready to help in any way.
From Blakely Murell-Liland, DVM:
I am one of the owner-veterinarians at Kedron Valley Veterinary Clinic in West Woodstock, just past the White Cottage/Dead River/VT Standard and WFM. We would like to let people know that despite having on-again/off-again water and power, we are remaining open every day and will have a veterinarian on site from 9am to 5pm for the rest of the week and from 9am-noon on Saturday. There will be a staff member here from 8am each morning. If we have no power, we are not able to answer our phones, but we will be checking voicemail hourly and returning calls (with cell phones). If anyone has an animal emergency but they are unable to reach us via phone, please come to the clinic and we will assist you.
In the case of any found animals, we are able to check for microchips in an effort to get animals reunited with their owners.
If there is anything else that we can do to help people and their 4-legged family members during this time, please let us know.
Thanks again for such an informative blog. After reading your blog tonight, I hope to be able to help tomorrow with my truck and deliver water to people. — Blakeley Murell-Liland, DVM on behalf of Philippa Richard, DVM and Lynn Murrell, DVM
