The Town Manager has just concluded a Flood Emergency Situation meeting with Woodstock Emergency Services and Woodstock Trustees. Here’s what we’re being told:
1. FEMA and their sub-contractors are on the way with private adjusters to consider some individual damage claims. Or more broadly to get a sense of how many there might be. Town Manager Swanson will provide details at the 5pm meeting today for the entire community at 5pm at the Woodstock Elementary School.
2. Central Vermont Public Service has eleven crews (or their contractors) here in Woodstock. An electric substation near the Mill Building in East Woodstock was hard hit and the focus is there right now.
3. Woodstock Aqueduct has restored ONE well-head. There are three majors they have to deal with. More info at 5pm.
4. Roads: Every available contractor has been hired to get up and try to make roads navigable . Here are the roads getting attention today:
A. Bridges Road
B. Cox District Road
C. Noah Wood Road
D. Long Hill Road
E. Hartland Hill Road
F. Happy Valley Road
G. Curtis Hollow Road
H. Fletcher Hill Road
Swanson says no guarantees on what can get done, but the heavy equipment is on the way.
5. Bridges:
A. Doc Roberts Bridge out Route 12 — Miller Construction contracted to work on it
B. Holt Iron Bridge in West Woodstock — Team sent out
Other important news;
Woodstock’s Wednesday Farmer’s Market is ON. Come together on the Green between 3pm and 6pm. It’s not known who can participate but the idea is to keep up the great things we do in town and provide some food and items as NORMAL.
Thursday: Volunteer working with Village for tentative BBQ on the Green Thursday. Details TBA (to be announced).
