The Vermont Standard To Be Published Friday Night

Vermont Standard Publisher Phil Camp gave us the news this morning that our weekly Woodstock regional newspaper, having been published for 158 years without interruption, is scheduled for publication this Friday night. This despite the total destruction by flooding of The Vermont Standard offices on Sunday by Tropical Storm Irene.

Last night, Editor Gwen Stanley informed citizens that the Standard offices have been re-located to the West Woodstock Office building down near the Lincoln Covered bridge. While data and communications links (and computer equipment) are touchy, the paper and its employees are determined to get the paper out this week.

Camp says it’s touch and go but he, personally, was on scene taking photographs of this morning Flood Response Emergency Planning Meeting. It’s always difficult to document a story when you ARE the story, but we know that Camp and his team are rallying to — as Vermonters love to say — GET ‘ER DONE!

If all goes well the newspaper will be available for sale on Saturday morning.
