Woodstock Now Qualifies for FEMA’s Individual Disaster Assistance

Route 4 is Still Closed. Local Traffic Allowed. Town of Woodstock and Police Ask Please NO Rubber-Neckers: Do you want to get plowed over or under by a dump truck? Please DO NOT DRIVE ROADS UNLESS THERE IS NEED!

Woodstock Early Birders…Here are your  headlines out of the Town of Woodstock morning flood response meeting. We  are  providing some highlights but not all….Woodstock Community Television will be airing these meetings. Macy will be taking down all other programming to air “government” and local meetings. www.wctv8.com:

Two BIG headlines out of this morning’s meeting, depending on your point of view…but both concern MONEY:

1. With President Obama’s Disaster Declaration AND FEMA’s statewide damage assessments (ongoing…) Town of Woodstock officials say we are now approved for what is known as Individual Disaster Declaration which opens the doors to financial aid.

“Master of Disaster” Kevin Geiger at Two-Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission has been asked by the town  to compile an  UNDERSTANDABLE guide for everyone to let you know what to do next. In the meantime, we are told you can try the 211 number with State of Vermont which has gotten more people to answer its phones.  Early Bird will provide this fact sheet on FEMA-related links and contacts as soon as it is prepared. Meantime, we are told “The Men (and Women?) in Blue Shirts” are in the house. Didn’t know it but FEMA employees wear blue shirts. Very calming color.

2. Parking Meters: NO PARKING TICKETS until September 13th. Woodstock Police Chief Robbie Blish gave us the news this morning. Village Trustee Eric Nesbitt was the unfortunate recipient of a huge clogging earful from a rescue worker who was ticketed for not feeding the meter.  That said, if you’d like to continue to contribute to Village coffers, the Village would be so pleased if you’d LIKE to continue feeding your friendly parking meter.

Posting this now…more momentarily. WEB
