Labor Day! We Know… You’ve Labored Enough

Good Morning Early Birds,

Here’s what we have right now but should be more later:

1 Even though it does not appear to be pouring rain in Woodstock right now (@7am) there is still an advisory for flash flooding from the National Weather Service: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/btv/

2. The Town of Woodstock and Emergency Services will hold its now regular 9am Flood Response Situation Meeting at the Town Hall. This meeting is open to the public. Woodstock Early Bird plans to be there and will report back any headlines.

3. Yes, we have water in taps. However, the water main at the Elm Street Bridge is still broken. Water for the main Village is coming through a hose. Is it the responsible thing to start school tomorrow with a compromised infrastructure and a continued BOIL ORDER for drinking water?  We’ll try to get some answers as the day goes on.

From Melissa on the subject of water and schools:

I have a child at the high school. There has been little forthcoming from the schools as well — for example, if there is not potable water they can’t feed 600 kids, but do people know to send lunch with their child? On the other hand, I’m sure the routine of school will be good for the kids and teachers/staff can be paid. But I think we need a read on the water situation first and someone knowledgeable to sign off. Keep up the great work, I appreciate your informative and timely posts

I recieved a letter from the principal at the high school explaining a lot about the water situation and that free lunch would be provided for the kids tomorrow (Tuesday) I’m pretty sure the letter should be posted on the wcsu website
