At least five FEMA representatives attended at Town of Woodstock flood response meeting Tuesday. They made no promises but are here to start the process of flood assessments and emergency funding.
FEMA applications centers are now open in Barre and Brattleboro.
Town Manager Phil Swanson has asked for a FEMA mobile van to come to Woodstock to help residents file their individual assistance claims.
A representative of the Small Business Adminstration is also in town working with FEMA.
The public is invited to a meeting with some of these representatives at 5pm at the Town Hall.

We own a mobile home in Riverside Park in Woodstock, Vermont. We may loose everything soon due to mold getting inside from the flooding. We have applied to FEMA on line but would like to talk to the FEMA people in Vermont. Can you give us any phone numbers for them to answer our questions, from the area where the hurricane happened. We are unable to attend any of the meetings. Thank you, Janice Krattiger

Janice, here’s the low-down. The FEMA people in Vermont as you say are dispatched by the FEMA people in Washington, D.C. Any FEMA person who is responding to a need for “personal assistance” has been sent out as a result of someone registering with Washington and FEMA headquarters. You don’t get a FEMA call or person to see your property until you register. There is no local Vermont number for FEMA. A representative will eventually call you and give you THEIR number, but only if you go through the process of calling and getting yourself in the database system and getting assigned a registered number. http://www.disasterassistance.gov OR 1-800-621-FEMA. There’s also an APP for applying through smartphones.

Carlos Mercade from the Small Business Administration was one of the speakers in Woodstock. However, he is being moved around the State to assist. Also FEMA Public Information Officer Victor Inge. But again, they may not be in Woodstock specifically.
