We have some good news:
The State of Vermont has conferred with Woodstock Aqueduct’s Eric Wegner and, according to Wegner, has given the a-okay to lift the boil water order.
That means you can use the water out of your tap for drinking and washing without boiling it. The State has determined through water sampling that it is free of bacteria and is apparently treated enough to withstand travel through a remaining fire hose without picking up any critical germs that could affect your health.
After a series of water samples came back negative for coliform bacteria yesterday, the BOIL WATER order was continued due to the fire hose issue. Woodstock Aqueduct went to the State of Vermont and asked for clearance despite the fire hose, which hopefully, once the Ottauquechee River goes down again will be replaced with a new pipe and new valves in the next few days. Weather and water are controlling this re-establishment of the complete municipal water system.
(Woodstock Early Bird, as per standard flood response protocol, is getting her information from Village Trustee Bob Pear, who has been deemed “The Water Boy” or “The Water Czar” serving as the liaison to the privately owned Woodstock Aqueduct Company.
