Woodstock Emergency Services holds a free early breakfast tomorrow morning — Sunday — at the Masonic Temple — as an offering and invitation to the entire Woodstock community to join in a remembrance of those whose lives were lost and forever changed by the September 11th attacks ten years ago in 2001.
*Breakfast will be served between 7am and approximately 8:15am and will be followed by a quiet group walk from the Masonic Temple to the Village Green.
*As part of the ceremonies, Woodstock resident and veteran NBC reporter Bob Hager will speak and local vocalist Sabrina Brown will sing.
*At 8:45 Bells will ring throughout the Village
With regard to our own generous, ever-helpful Woodstock Emergency Services …We have learned that in this time of need following the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene, Woodstock’s Fire Department membership has voted to suspend all “duty” or “call” pay they normally receive if they work on a fire. Fire Chief L.D. Sutherland, Jr. says the membership would prefer those monies be donated to help reconstruct the Town’s infrastructure. Sutherland says this is no small thing — the ‘”call” pay has amounted to as much as $80,000 in the past.
One last note: We’re not sure what this is about but at tomorrow’s breakfast, Town Manager Phil Swanson says he has been asked NOT to cook and will NOT be cooking. We hear he does great with the dish-washing!
