Update: We want to be clear that our information about a “special guest” is a reference to a special guest joining very special guest Joe Perry. Since the concert poster describes “Joe Perry” and then references ANOTHER special guest we wanted to be clear that the SECOND special guest is unlikely to be ANOTHER Aerosmith band member.
Also, officially there is NO special seating for Flood volunteers. We were just suggesting if someone really, really wanted to get in and we really, really knew how much they had done to help that it might be just cheerfully really, really kind to let them have our seat or our place in line. One of those “Just sayin'” things.
We hear the Woodstock Village Trustees had a special morning meeting today to help with advance planning for an anticipated overflow audience for tomorrow afternoon’s Irene Flood Benefit Concert.
Village Trustees gave permission to organizers for the set-up of a speaker system outside the Town Hall on the Village Green (normally soooo verboten) so those who wish to can hear the concert if they are not able to be the first 300 or so to get into the venue.
A video/audio system will also be set-up in the Woodstock Elementary School.
The concert is billed as “Free.” However, it is meant to raise money for flood victims so everyone is expected to contribute what they are able (except those, of course, who can’t!). A “bucket brigade” of volunteers will be on hand to collect checks and/or cash from those offering.
The concert begins at 4pm Sunday and is expected to last two hours. Concert-goers are asked to arrive early. The concert was originally billed also as a way to thank community volunteers who, if they want, should be allowed by “we the people” access to the venue.
“We” also hear that the special guest is a well known acoustic guitaristist of note, but NOT from Aerosmith. That is a for sure. The special guest is someone known for supporting causes with his music since the 1960’s. A friend in need who plays around New England quite a bit. Thanks Dude!
Woodstock Early Bird will not be able to “cover” this event as we actually have to work elsewhere.
Be good. Be generous. Enjoy!
