The Woodstock Inn Re-Opens Friday

Photograph by Anna Sand Photography

The good ship  “Woodstock Inn”  is ready to sail again onto the open Foliage Season  seas after suffering a major breach of her hull during Tropical Storm Irene…

We see from the Woodstock Inn’s website and hear from workers at the Inn that the resort plans to re-open to guests tomorrow following major destruction wreaked by Tropical Irene floodwaters just a month ago.

A massive effort since day one  has been ongoing to restore all the basement equipment, kitchen, conference services, food prep areas and heating and plumbing systems that were engulfed in Kedron Brook muddy waters on that day.  We witnessed virtual fleets of Servpro trucks and an entire crew of clean-up folks from Texas getting the job done.  Not to mention all the mechanical tradespeople who have had to be on the project 24/7.

This  from the Woodstock Inn website www.woodstockinn.com :

Welcome

We are open for Foliage. Reservations available now for September 30th and beyond.

Book Online or call 1-800-448-7900.

We also hear the dining room will re-open tomorrow with a “dry run” for returning employees during the day. Woodstock Early Bird and others have  been well aware of the preparations as a SYSCO  food delivery refrigerator truck  has been set-up on Mechanic Street for several days and nights  cycling on and off its refrigeration motors  outside the Inn. We are assuming this is a temporary inconvenience and will not last long.  Wondering if servers will have to run outside for more  butter and pickles!  It may  all be part of the “new normal”!

For those who don’t know, the Woodstock Golf Club is still closed (although they are serving lunch out of the Club House) as are the tennis courts at the Woodstock Inn Health and Fitness Center. However, the indoor  swimming pool, lockers and showers, work0ut room are open. The outdoor tennis courts were scooped out and destroyed by flood waters and much more work will have to be done to restore them.

More as we know it!
