Woodstock Early Bird took part in the Kedron Valley Inn’s “Playtime at the Pond” Sunday morning and enjoyed meeting all the dogs and the friendly, well-behaved and responsible owners who love them. It was a wet and dirty morning for one and all with about a dozen dogs enjoying the Kedron’s pond and beach area. The pictures please….

It was a joyful morning, meeting new neighbors and their beloved dogs, and watching the canines play with such glee and free spirit. Thank you KVI for allowing us to use the pond.
I wish the Town/Village could provide us with a place to run our dogs off-leash on a regular basis. It would benefit the residents (both dog-lovers as well as dog-unlovers) as much as the dogs. Anyone want to start a conversation?
Reply from Dianne Langona:
I started a “dog park” project about a a year and a half ago. Met with several other dog lovers and we brought our idea to a Sustainable Woodstock meeting
Unfortunately I found myself overwhelmed by the bureaucracy of such a project.
Here is a link to the website
http://www.woodstockvtdogpark.org/
as you will see it is only the start…and basically just reserves the domain name.
I would LOVE to be part of this project again!!

Any other enthusiastic responses from WEB readers? Is there any general support for this idea, or are we the only two?

Lots of support out there, Toni. What is needed is someone to organize a group to appear before Village Trustees or Town Selectboard for “Citizen Comments” to ask for assistance in moving things forward. . There are several in the community who have already done some legwork and they may also have names from a petition that went around a year or so ago which as I remember had 80 to 100 names on it. . Talk with Dianne Langona or Pat Crocker.
Woodstock Early Bird would be happy to post a date/time if such a group is to appear before a regularly scheduled Trustees or Selectboard meeting and would report on that meeting. However, WEB is probably not the place for an independent organization to rally its troops. Maybe get the web page going that Dianne refers to. Good luck! And see you at the KVI pond….

Meantime, might the KVI consider doing it again? I’ll donate another participant and lots of dog towels!

Thanks Wendy and everyone at the Kedron Valley Inn for generously allowing us to use the pond for a little canine social networking and exercising. Really looking forward to bringing Laddie over again, we’ve told many folks who didn’t make it that they should check it out!
