The Mighty Oak

Woodstock Early Bird has been noticing the deep browns of oak tree leaves as they fall about the Village. One particularly full and lovely oak tree sits just outside the Court House off the Green. Look up. Look down. There’s lots to see:

The willow which bends to the tempest, often escapes better than the oak which resists it;and so in great calamities,it sometimes happens that light and frivolous spirits recover their elasticity and presence of mind sooner than those of a loftier character.  –  Albert Schweitzer

To me, the time of the oak leaves along with the lovely beeches and popples is just a gorgeous as the more-renowned maple season. Peggy
