At Tuesday’s Village Trustees meeting, Woodstock Police Chief Robbie Blish announced that the two French Road homes were burglarized within the last 24 hours, in addition to break-ins on Rose Hill Road and a couple others in Pomfret and Hartford.
Woodstock Police, working with Vermont State Police and Hartford Police, are on the lookout for a suspicious vehicle – a white Chevy Blazer – that was seen in the area at the times of the break-ins.
Blish reports that items stolen from homes were valuable objects, some jewelry that can be moved quickly on the open market. He said the nature of the targeted items leads officials to believe that drug use may be the motivational force behind the break-ins.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity to the police, and to lock their home and vehicles. The police can be reached at (802) 457-1420 if anyone has information that might be helpful in the investigation.

what time was the break in French road , Rose Hlll? I and two other women saw a vehicle which sped by ..and then after a long talk about the robberies and the speed of the car it came back down French Road onto Rose Hill, THis hapened during late afternoon on Tuesday..The weird thing is the car had Virginia plates so we thought just someone who does not make eye contact and drives too fast but it was odd and now we realize in the area of the attempted thefts..

Charlet,
Please go to the police with your information. They may, or may not, provide you with further info. I believe that whatever you have might tie in and be relevant. However, they may wish to keep key pieces quiet (such as time of day) short-term while they investigate.
Woodstock Early Bird does not have any further information. And while all the info is fascinating and it’s great to have a clearinghouse/place to put all the pieces together here at WEB, the professionals, our police force, are tasked with these duties.
For right now, the information provided in Gareth’s report is all we have officially from Chief Blish’s report last night and he did not mention time of day. I’m sure if you ask vis a vis your own “sighting” that you’ll be able to confirm your leads.
