Woodstock Early Bird was wondering what Michael Stoner and his able Northern New York assistant, Mallory Wood, were doing all these weeks and months….You know, other than doing the schmoozy woozy business meetings over strong coffee. Now, we know
Big announcement in Chicago last night where Woodstock’s Michael Stoner’s new website was launched. His company, “mStoner” is based in Chicago with the satellite office at T’Other House on the Woodstock Village Green. Or is that the “M’ Other Ship House”? Hard to say. In any case here’s a pic of Mallory, Michael and Partner Voltaire at the launch party.
| mStoner (www.mstoner.com) Announces EDUniverse, a Website That Connects Higher Ed Marketers, Social Media strategists, Designers and Other Professionals with Resources — and Each Other. If you’re a web developer, designer, social media strategist, PR person, or marketer working in higher education, you know that there’s a lot of valuable content that can provide insights, examples, and inspiration for your own initiatives. The problem is finding it, since it’s scattered all across the web in blogs, websites, SlideShare, news stories, Twitter, etc. And what’s worse, the list grows daily: for example, Google “social media & higher ed” and you’ll get millions of results.Soon, though, EDUniverse, a website designed and built by mStoner, will serve as the goto destination for those who want to find out about the latest innovations in higher communications and marketing. The website is designed as a hub where professionals can find and share inspiration, learn how others have solved problems, and network with each other. EDUniverse was announced last evening by mStoner, Inc., at a celebration of the marketing and consulting firm’s first decade in business. It will be launched in February.“As the challenges to higher education grow in complexity, there’s a greater need than ever to share information about ideas, approaches, and solutions. One of the primary values of EDUniverse is that it allows a smart community to get even smarter as people share their own ideas and find inspiration from others,” said Michael Stoner, president of mStoner.Anyone can visit EDUniverse to learn about current thinking and find out what solutions might have worked for others. By creating a profile on EDUniverse, a contributor will be able to share content from their blog, Twitter, Youtube and Slideshare accounts, and will be able to upload content like white papers directly to EDUniverse. They’ll also be able to comment and rank content shared by others and tag content for sharing with people who have similar interests like design, social media, fundraising, research, or public relations. Moreover, built-in features of EDUniverse will help visitors to the site identify significant content. For example, the home page and other areas of the site will feature content curated by editors who will identify some of the most innovative, pertinent, or thoughtful submissions and share them. By ranking and commenting on content that is shared on the site, EDUniverse participants can endorse thought-provoking ideas and noteworthy posts or presentations.
Already, a number of A-list bloggers have signed on as early adopters of EDUniverse. They’ll be testing the site, adding content, and advising mStoner on site development, features, and other aspects of the site. These include:
The EDUniverse announcement coincides with the celebration of mStoner’s tenth anniversary in business. “We’re announcing EDUniverse now because this is a special occasion for us and as a company, we’ve always been keenly aware of the importance of giving back to the higher ed community. We consider this our tenth anniversary present to higher ed.” Stoner said. The anticipated launch of EDUniverse is February 2012. Anyone can learn more about EDUniverse and sign up for an announcement of its launch at EDUniverse.org.
