Woodstock Village shopping just got easier for anyone who works or plays hard during the day. Later hours at some stores for the next few weeks so you can take your time browsing in the evening before you buy.
Thanks to the efforts of the Woodstock Village Business Alliance some shop owners have agreed to keep their stores open until 7pm on Fridays and and until 6pm on Saturdays through December 23rd. It’s a nice gesture for working folks or for those visiting who get into town later in the day but still want to “buy local.”
We’ve often wondered why this courtesy hasn’t been extended before. We know it requires longer hours for people but it might just be worth it! Let’s hope it makes a difference to our friends who own and run these shops. We want a robust downtown, right? They gotta’ pay the rent just like anyone else. They also don’t have to, but many find a way to contribute to local sports teams, flood relief and other community enterprises. With many West Lebanon businesses down for the count due to the Fall flooding, this local effort makes sense. Have fun out there.

Actually, I recollect a few such experiments, involving Wednesday late closings and also , if memory serves, a once a month Saturday plan, with specials and many stores open until eight. I will certainly shop as locally as possible this year and having stores open later is definitely encouraging.
