Our Harpoon Brewery frequenting habitual parking offenders have been noticing the construction progress in Windsor of Vermont Farmstead Cheese’s newest facility. It sits directly across from the Harpoon Brewery building. Earlier this year, VFC, based in South Woodstock, issued this press release about what all is going on there.
The site, a popular and expanding tourist destination, is now the home of Harpoon Brewery and Simon Pearce, Great River Outfitters and the Path of Life Sculpture Garden. The Windsor facility will provide for the increasing demands for the production of our line of Vermont Artisan Cheeses, as well as aging and distribution functions for all VFC Cheeses.
The facility is being designed with future expansion in mind. The facility will also offer economical aging, custom packaging and distribution services to satisfy the growing needs of all Vermont Cheesemakers. The facility will also house 600 sq ft of retail space.
VFC is making this space available to all Vermont Artisan Cheesemakers. The retail facility will also act as a Vermont Cheese Information Center highlighting, promoting and encouraging the growing Vermont Cheese Industry and its individual producers. The retail space will have a viewing wall open to the cheese production operation. Talks are underway with various establishments in the area to jointly offer multiday cheese making classes aimed at the general public. It will be a unique Agritourism offering for the region.“Besides being ideally sited for growth, we will be able to draw upon the local labor pool to fill our requirement for personnel now and as we expand the facility. “ Vince Galluccio, Chairman VFC “I am excited about the prospect of VFC establishing a presence in the park. They would fit in well with existing tenants, create jobs in Windsor and help expand Gov. Shumlin’s “Farm to Plate” program.” Terry McDonnell, President Great Bear Realty Corp. The design and construction of this facility will be in accordance with all FDA and UDSA standards creating one of the most efficient, sanitary and employee friendly facilities in the region.
Woodstock Early Bird notes that she enjoyed a newly-offered dessert cheese plate at the Prince and the Pauper recently, which included samples of Vermont Farmstead Cheese…Chef Doug also frequently offers a cheese plate and recipes using Vermont Farmstead Cheese at the Kedron Valley Inn. Look for it. It’s yummy stuff.)
