Woodstock Early Bird is fascinated that this is still a modern-day means of fundraising and was considering that question even before this bit of news provided by contributor Chris Orcutt. Somehow it seems so quaint and old-fashioned. But, we’re on board if it makes a difference….and it certainly gives the kids something to do. “Auntie” Early Bird is always looking for ways to keep the young ‘uns occupied.

Woodstock Elementary School is doing its yearly” Box Tops for Education”  fundraiser and we’re told it DOES add up. Last year, the box top project brought in approximately $500:

The box tops are little coupons on the corner of a lot of everyday cardboard and paper  products.  These little coupons can be  valuable to the school. Each box top is worth $.10 , which can be  directly donated to the school. The money can be used for anything the school would like to buy  or put towards a larger school project.  

So to all the Woodstock Early Birds out there: SAVE your box tops.  All the K-6 Woodstock Elementary School kids  are involved in the program. There’s  also a  competition between grades each month for the most box tops collected and the children get a special treat (Hopefully not costing equal to the sum of the collected box tops…) 

If you’re on board with this project just bring you box tops into the Woodstock Elementary School main office OR  find your fave kid and give ’em your cut-outs.  Coupon clipping has never been Woodstock Early Bird’s thing but we can always start new habits to save money in these cash-strapped times. Hey, will this help  reduce our education taxes? You never know!
