This may seem like a small incident involving one pill or allegations of abuse of a pill, but Woodstock Early Bird is told by authorities that the use and abuse of regulated/prescription drugs in our community is a problem as it is in other parts of the country. The Vermont State Police report on this incident illustrates how problems may begin:

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 12/13/11, Vermont State Police dispatch received a call from a concerned parent who reported that her 15 year old son had been given an unknown pill at work and was pressured to take it. Investigation revealed that the juvenile was given an Adderall 20 mg capsule and that he felt pressured by his co-worker, the pill supplier, to consume the pill. The juvenile said that eventually he gave in to the peer pressure and took the pill. The co-worker, Adam Parker of Bridgewater, was arrested and cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division on 02/03/12 to answer to the charge of dispensing regulated drugs to minors.
