Little Theater and Rec Center Re-Build Funds Approved

About a third of Woodstock registered voters participated in yesterday’s Town Hall Meeting Day balloting. According to Town Clerk Jay Morgan, 808 people showed up of the 2,613 townspeople currently listed on Woodstock voting rolls.

By a decisive 3-1 ratio, Woodstock voters approved a proposal to take out a $200,000 bond to repair the Recreation Center buildings damaged by Tropical Storm Irene, most notably the historic Little Theater.

The final tally was 601 to 198 in favor, according to Town Clerk Jay Morgan.

Also approved by a wide margin was the $11.3 million Woodstock Union High School budget, which passed 491-162.

All special articles involving requests for town funding passed decisively. Those included a $30,000 request from the Norman Williams Public Library and a $32,000 request from the Pentangle Council on the Arts.

Having been on the Board of the New Woolhouse Theatre and a participant
in many Little Theatre productions since 1993, I am thrilled the town
voted in favor of fixing the damage from Irene on the Little Theatre.
Bravo to all Woodstock voters for their support.
