Woodstock Early Bird is sad to report the news that we have lost another young person in our community. There is much more to this Vermont State Police report — as if always the case. We question: “How could this happen?”, “What was going on?” “Could we have prevented the series of events and/or decisions that led to this untimely death?” When is the line crossed between teens “sampling” or “testing” and engaging in full-on dangerous behavior to themselves and others?
Suffice it to say that on a general level, Woodstock Police have told us in the past (although we suspect it is underreported) that substance abuse of many types is alive and well in our community. We do not, at this time, mean to indicate that we have any more information than the VSP. However, we will reach out to youth and family counselors for more on how to stem the loss of our youth in the future.

It would be great if this website would simply pass along facts and not insinuate your opinion into these matters. We will find out exactly why this tragedy occurred, but until we know the facts it can be quite harmful to family members to speculate.
