Waters High Following Heavy Rains

The National Weather Service never did issue a flood warning for the Woodstock area in Central Vermont. However, flood warnings were posted within the last 24 hours for areas of Southern Vermont and Grafton County in New Hampshire as a major rain system moved through.

Woodstock Early Birds report that official flood warnings notwithstanding that waters are higher in both the Ottauquechee River and the Kedron Brook through Woodstock Village.

In the photo above, the Kedron Brook runs at level with a new rip-rap embankment placed to restore the stream bank following last Fall’s Tropical Storm Irene deluge.

Be safe. Stay dry. Call 911 if you need help. Rains, although not as strong, are likely throughout the week, in combination — at higher elevations — with some snow or sleet according to the NWS.
