CONTACT#: 295-9425
DATE/TIME: 04-25-12/2145 hours
LOCATION (specific): N. Main Street

VICTIM: Lucas Dennis-Devries
AGE: 26
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: White River Junction, Vermont
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At approximately 9:45 PM Chris Reiley, owner of CJ’s at
Than Wheelers Restaurant was outside of his establishment on South Main Street
when he heard a gunshot. He immediately called 911 to report hearing the shot.
He then observed a male (Dennis-Devries) stagger around the corner by the Tucker
Box and then collapse on the sidewalk. Dennis-Devries alleged that he was
walking home from work and passed a male subject with a dog described possibly
as a German Shepard type dog standing on the corner of N. Main Street and
Currier Street and he allegedly nodded to him as he passed, but the male subject
did not respond. Dennis-Devries allegedly continued walking and at that point
was shot from behind. The bullet entered his buttock and exited his groin.
Dennis-Devries was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon,
NH for his non-life-threatening injury. The male subject had run off up Currier
Street. A K-9 unit from Lebanon, NH PD and a K-9 unit from Vermont State Police
tracked the scent up onto Fairview Terrace where the track stopped. Evidence at
the scene was recovered at the scene. At this time the Department has
identified two possible persons of interest that may or may not be involved.
Anyone with any information is being asked to please call the Hartford Police
Department at 295-9425. At this time we feel this is an isolated incident and
that the community is not in any danger.
