Tonight @ WUHS 7pm: Substance Abuse Forum-Part Two

Woodstock Early Bird reminds you of the second in a series of open and free forums about how to acknowledge and minimize substance abuse among Woodstock area youth.

Community Dialogue on May 2, 7-9 p.m. WUHS Cafeteria

Woodstock Union High School administrators and leadership team, and Ottauquechee Community Partnership invite you to attend a youth-facilitated community dialogue.

This informed dialogue about youth substance abuse trends in our community will be followed with action planning about how to support our young people, what to do when you/we have a concern about a friend/young person and how to create an empowered healthy community for our young people.

Trained youth facilitators in conjunction with adult supporters will lead youth, parents and community members in this important dialogue.

Healthy Youth, Healthy Communities’ Jim Grossman reports that the first of a two part program on Youth Substance Abuse was in his words, “Well-attended (45) people and very informative.”

He reports, “As might be expected the topics ranged from the personal to the factual, with panelists representing a wide- range of experiences with substance abuse. All stressed the need for community and individual involvement and that it was powerful to see this diverse group working together. While the audience had the opportunity to ask questions- Wednesdays dialogue will be the opportunity to speak, be heard and then have an opportunity to be involved with “next steps” in working on substance abuse in our community.”
