Artist, Activist, Leader Passes

The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce this morning announced that former Chamber Director Annette Compton has passed away following a brief illness.

She was a well-known contributor to the Woodstock community as an artist, park lover, events planner and sustainability activist.

Her family and friends were with her. We offer condolences to them all.

Annette was the illustrator for my first children’s book, God’s Paintbrush. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to come to know her. She was a wonderful artist and beautiful person. Condolences to the family. She will be greatly missed.

Impossible to comment meaningfully in this public forum, yet I am glad to have it available. This illness hit like lightning, left her virtually no time to say goodbye to her many friends. She just got married on February 4th. Terribly sad. A poetic and creative soul, gone with the wind.

I will miss you, Annette, my dear friend. . . . but you were always an old soul, and you will be back . . .
