Hi, I am an old Woodstock girl, been living for 45 years in France, and was alarmed to read in the Early Bird about the traffic problems in town. Small villages have a technique here in France, called “sleeping policemen” (gendarme couché) which are big bumps but onto the road surface, like big hotdogs that stretch the total width, and if you don’t slow down A LOT, you ruin your suspension and other motor parts !!!!!! so you put these in/on every so many yards apart, it really keeps trafic slowed down! of course the curses exclaimed by the drivers can sometimes be heard thru closes windows !!!! If you want more info, I will try to get you some pictures, and my compagnon is a retired civil engineer, so I can get some technical details too. Those God-awful Mack trucks cruising thru town are going to be “happy campers” !!!!!
