We realized this morning that Woodstock Early Bird had missed the Mon Vert Cafe’s first birthday and so must now belatedly wish Laura and Cameron a big CONGRATULATIONS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. They opened their coffee shop and restaurant on May 22nd, 2011. Birds quickly roosted.
As some of we regulars remarked this morning, Mon Vert started with a very important basic:
A good cup of coffee. A consistently good cup of coffee. Such good coffee that Early Bird came down off the flippin’ espresso limb and settled into a fine medium roast.
Mon Vert Cafe makes a fabulous variety of salads — Woodstock Early Bird must consume one at least once a week. They also have not settled for the “lesser croissant” often found in Upper Valley establishments. In fact, this morning we detected a Woodstock Early Bird swooping in and swooping out with an entire TRAY of croissants which were destined for his porch and his weekend guests. The croissants, you see, are now made from a very specific dough IMPORTED from La Belle France. They taste as they should. Anyone who is a croissant snob will understand.
