Did YOU see Venus “TRANSIT” the sun?
We ran into an unexpected gathering earlier this evening of folks who did! An astronomical phenomenon that one witness said made her feel wonderfully “astrological not psychological!”
Surveyors tools helped Woodstock Early Birds view Venus as it crossed between the Sun and the Earth
Woodstock Early Bird did see the start of this “event” through the lens of surveyor Bob Holt’s theodolite equipment. Very generous of him to set up his equipment in front of the Town Hall. A half dozen kids and passers-by had a look/see at what appeared to be a green disc (the sun) with a tiny black dot on top of it. VENUS!
Venus is the hint of a dot in the upper centrol portion of the circle; the shadow cast as it moves in front of the sun…
Totally COOL!
