A new shop, Mollie’s, in Central Woodstock Village has opened. Proprietress Tammy Thompson describes the shop as eclectic — from antiques and linens to modern items such as lingerie, lawn ornaments and glassware.
She has created a cozy space filled with a plethora of items designed to assist those focused on decorating. Thompson says she will also offer interior design advice as she encourages people to enhance their homes without spending a bundle.
One of the headlines we found: Fresh-Cut Flowers! Thompson says she’ll see how it goes but she may work with an area flower “person” to make them available for those stopping in for last-minute entertaining items.
Tammy, who has the “gift of gab”, hails from Alabama with a long 30 year stop-over in Atlanta, Georgia. The Southern lilt and hint of a woman who knows hospitality shines through in conversation. Thompson was a real estate broker in Atlanta but has “retired,” letting her license lapse. Now, the shop, named after her dog, Mollie, is her new baby.
It seems as if there would not be a niche market for er, undergarments, but, in addition to fine women’s lingerie at the shop, Thompson says she has accounts with Hanes and will be happy to order your man some boxers, should he be in, er, need. One assumes that men don’t order their own boxers, but perhaps we are wrong…In any case, a visit to the shop yields many discoveries. Thompson acknowledges there are other “gift” and “home” shops in the Village but says that while she would like to be successful, the shop will try not to sell items available elsewhere. She is joined in her project by her husband who is, most recently, often found playing music at Bentley’s.
