SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On July 22, 2012 at 12:21 hours the State Police of Royalton was advised of the death of Michael Bivins. Further investigation revealed that Bivins was a grounds keeper at Hawk Resort for the past 23 years. This morning Bivins was tasked with fixing a large floating trampoline, which he has done numerous times in the past. Shortly after working on the trampoline Bivins was witnessed thrashing about in water, and 911 was called. Ludlow Ambulance responded and transported Bivins. Bivins was later pronounced dead at Springfield Hospital.

It is believed the boat which Bivins took to the trampoline floated away and while trying to retrieve it, Bivins drowned or suffered from an unknown medical episode. Bivins was an experienced swimmer.

Bivins was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners Office for autopsy; which is scheduled for July 23, 2012. No foul play is suspected.

No additional information is available.
