“Mittens” Day Two: Romney Jumps VT Ship for NH

Woodstock Early Birds we are sorry to have to report that the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Mitt Romney, has left the Healey compound on Rush Meadow Road and, rather than spending his lunchtime mingling with us here, he has headed straight for New Hampshire!

Upon leaving the Healey’s property, the motorcade did not stop and there was no waving or chatting with those waiting outside the gates. Just a purposeful exit with a New Hampshire destination in mind.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney leaves the Healy property in Vermont, heading for campaigning in New Hampshire

Harumph.

Can you believe it?

That’s just the way it goes: Enjoy Vermont’s beautiful scenery and then go across to New Hampshire for your schmoozing.

The votes worth getting are apparently over at a hardware store in West Lebanon. We Vermonters, with our overwhelming vote for the Democratic Presidential ticket last election, are apparently “chopped livah.”

You’d think that in this land of Joseph Smith, a founding Mormon who helped populate Utah, that we would at least get some thanks for the good Vermont stock we provided.

We can also report that just two members of the general public have appeared outside the Healey driveway hoping for a glimpse of Mr. Romney. Let’s just say the interest in his stay here has not been overwhelming:

1.  One Romney supporter from Rutland

2. One curious neighbor whose primary home is Bermuda.

Otherwise it’s just the national press convoy ferried about in three big black limo buses and a lot of Vermont State Police and Secret Service.

Fox News, we noticed,  continued to be on scene at the Woodstock Inn today having been, er, removed from the Village Green.

Fox News changed locations today, apparently no longer welcome to set up camp on the Woodstock Village Green.

The National Press all had to be thoroughly searched and a bomb-sniffing dog went through their gear before they loaded up for the motorcade to New Hampshire
