The Interceptor is Here

Oooh, Woodstock Early Birds, your new police cruiser is here! It’s WHITE.

Woodstock Police Chief Robbie Blish wanted us to wait to show you until it has its decals on.

Decals coming later this week. BOL (Be on Lookout).

We would surmise that said “unmarked” but very shiny White Ford SUV is already “in service” since we found our police chief sitting in it this morning.

BTW, it was nice to see Chief sitting in a cruiser, observing all, at the Central Village corner on the Green.

Used to be on our morning walks we’d always have a Wooodstock Police presence there as folks drove to school, vans made deliveries and so forth.

It was a chance to say hello, chat, actually make contact with our law enforcement personnel as they either ended or began their day. (Knowing that if speed demons were rushing through town they’d be quickly apprehended).

In recent months, we haven’t seen Woodstock Police anywhere on our morning rounds(staffing issues?) and when we have there’s been no roll-down of the window to chat, just officers staring down at their phones or other work.

We appreciated Chief Blish stopping at the old location, rolling down his window and exchanging a few pleasantries. Old-time community policing…Call us old-fashioned.
