Fiber Optic for Library? Not Quite Yet…

Dave Brown, Woodstock’s representative to ECFiber, has given Woodstock Early Bird this update on efforts to raise money for a fiber optic hub at the Norman Williams Public Library. Here is his update:

The ECFiber Capital Campaign fell short of its goal to raise $400,000 by selling 15-year interest bearing promissory notes. So gigabit fiber-optic Internet service will not be coming to the Norman Williams Public Library as was hoped.

However, it looks like we did raise sufficient funds to bring ECFiber to other parts of Woodstock. In the weeks ahead, I will be working with the ECFiber Routes Planning team to determine which areas can be served with the money we just raised.

If there are Woodstock residents who feel they want ECFiber service sooner than later, the best strategy is to organize a group of neighbors as a cluster of “prospective subscribers” and be in touch with me ASAP. The Routes Planning team responds to such clusters of subscribers when determining the most beneficial routes.

I will update the Woodstock landing page at http://www.ecfiber.net/woodstock as information becomes available.
