Gov. Peter Shumlin issued the following statement following today’s explosions in Boston:
“Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who lost their lives or were injured in today’s explosions in Boston. It is heartbreaking that what started out as a festive sporting event for thousands, including many Vermonters, turned into a tragedy. Vermont has offered any help needed to Massachusetts law enforcement in the aftermath of the blasts. We continue to closely monitor the situation, and are prepared to assist our neighbors in Massachusetts if asked.”
Woodstock Early Bird has determined by a review of the Boston Athletic Association web listing that 101 people identifying themselves as from Vermont were running in today’s Boston Marathon.
