Green Mountain Power says it hopes to have power back to Woodstock and surrounding communities by 4pm.
At 3:09 workers on site reported both considerable damage and expectations of needing about an hour more work.
We are told additional squirrel protection measures/devices have been added at the transformer/substation location in question.
We also have been given the sad news that the squirrel likely perished in this incident which has emptied out Woodstock during a quite busy Sunday.
The power first went out between 10:45 and 11am and has been out ever since (3:30pm).
