The Rutland Herald reporting this morning on new rumble strips being put in along Vermont Rt. 2 between Alburgh and Colchester… Pretty sure residents of Hartford, Quechee, Woodstock were promised some rumble strips on Rt. 4 before the end of summer….What’s the deal Governor Shumlin and VTrans??
(For those who say all this is a bad idea and use the rumble strip fiasco in Cambridge, Vermont as evidence– those strips/stripes were put in wrong. Woodstock Early Bird doesn’t think this is the only solution to vehicular deaths but we sure think it can’t hurt to have a way to wake us all up when we start veering over the centerline into oncoming traffic!)
Yeah, so we were to get new painted stripes and some rumble, bumpety-bumps down the middle. Promises, promises….Maybe they’re waiting til the Fall foliage leaf-peeper season gets underway for this short-term construction project?

For those who have missed it before, here is an address of the state’s website showing some astounding statistics about our dear Route 4:

Sorry, I don’t know how to print that as a link.

Today’s Valley News has the same article about Rte 2–but–with the additional information about Rte 4 getting the stripes too. Previously we were told it would happen this month, hmmmmm….
