It’s Really Never Too Late…To Get Your Diploma!

Mildred Diploma

This, my Woodstock Early Bird friends, is Woodstock’s Mildred Gay, who, in 1926 had to drop out of high school  at 16 to care for her sick mother.

Today, at the age of 103, Theresa Mildred Gay, accepted an honorary diploma from Woodstock Union High School.

Windsor Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Alice Worth presented the diploma to Mildred at her Merten’s House home saying she appreciated that Mildred thought enough about the importance of an education to be willing to have friends pursue getting the diploma for her after so many years have gone by.

This bit of terrific news makes my day, – actually the thought of this picture, and what it represents, will hold me in a happy place for a month! Congratulations, Mildred! You look most lovely and quite the scholar in your cap and gown!
