Have You Flossed? Little Theater Hopping All Weekend

Woodstock Early Birds….some random items for your Friday morning concerning Dentistry AND Little Theater Activities (Contra Dance/Dinner tonight and Vermont Artisan Show Saturday and Sunday (please click on the ad on our main page www.woodstockearlybird.com  for details)

mark knottFirst, an endorsement: We ask, “Have you flossed?” because we are super happy to welcome Dr. Mark Knott and Woodstock Dentistry to the Woodstock Early Bird family. He would like to check out your TEETH and your SMILE!

We can review some “highlights” of our visit earlier this week (We were petrified at visiting as we hadn’t been in YEARS and YEARS and figured it would not go well  and as an avowed anxiety-ridden individual, Woodstock Early Bird would have gone screaming out of the Ottauquechee Health Center pronto had this not been a positive experience):

1. Buffy and Jayne out front and next to the chair:   First, very helpful, Jayne sends you the forms for new patient stuff so you don’t have to waste time in the office doing that.

Then, fun with Buffy!  Lots of laughs, didn’t seem to mind when we spit out the dental x-ray gizmo each and every time. You know the whole “Bite down” thing makes us gag. We’re not polite about it.   We spit  out the whole device. Buffy didn’t seem to have a problem with that and worked with us. (She even made a Woodstock Early Bird tipster phone inquiry above and beyond her dental duties!)

2. Pain and anxiety management: Gum numb-ers, Novocaine and the rest. All available in response to our needs. Love that. :-

3. Grape, orange, cinnamon or mint flavored tooth polishing!  Yummy. Apparently it’s the grown-ups who choose “Grape”.

4  Getting ‘er done! Dental hygienist Kristen has FOCUS (and more than 20 years experience) and had Bird out of the chair in a timely fashion (She  aced those pesky coffee stains, too!)

4. Tunes: We chose “Smooth Jazz” but you can listen to James Taylor or heck, Metallica, if you’d like.

5. Shades: Cool Sun Glasses to block the bright lights and set you chillin’ right.

6. Oh yeah: DENTIST. Dr. Mark Knott, major dental credentials and keeps up (click through to his web page on our main Woodstock Early Bird page) and a low-key manner with a HUGE SMILE.  Reminds us of our little brother and how about his dogs?  Dr. Knott has been around for quite a few years (but not too many, if you catch my drift).

7. No Shaming:  Not one person at Woodstock Dentistry gave us a hard time about how our dental hygiene might have sucked and we obviously didn’t floss enough and that we might go to hell if we didn’t floss six times a day. Instead of shaming, we got encouragement for taking the time to respect our mouth! What? From a dentist? Respect your mouth, people!

8. Expense: Yes, without dental insurance there is certainly a cost. However, we would note that our visit with Dr. Knott, followed by an appointment with the dental hygienist still cost less than getting an eye exam and a new pair of glasses.  Again, click on the website link to find the Woodstock Dentistry webpage about the financials  — ways to ease money worries — of  getting your mouth in better shape.

9. Buffy encourages people to just stop in and have a quick look at the office and meet Dr. Knott. Ya’ know and then run away to think about it. No one will wrestle you into the chair. Yet.

Okay, there’s really no way to connect dentistry to contra dancing except if you like meeting people and getting out on a Friday night you might want to join in for a SMILE at the Little Theater tonight. We got this announcement from Delia Clark:
